**This is a new role within the Music and Liturgy Team at Bristol Cathedral, which will support a wide range of areas including organ accompaniment, chorister rehearsals, vocal training/sectional work, and outreach.**
The breadth of the role makes this job both interesting and challenging - with no two weeks being the same. We need someone highly skilled in these areas, as well as with demonstrably high levels of motivation, a positive attitude and the ability to learn.
You will most likely be highly organised and disciplined, with a high regard for thoroughness, and strong administration skills, and an ability to work flexibly with a wide range of individuals and partners.
The post is ideal for someone who is looking to develop their musical, professional and people skills and experience, with a view to developing a career in Cathedral or church music.
The Music Assistant will play a key role within the Cathedral’s Music Department and will be responsible for:
- Organ accompaniment and playing on at least two occasions a week
- Providing support in the development and delivery of a variety of choral activities
- Ensuring the music office and library are efficiently and systematically run
- Enabling the work of the Cathedral's music to be more widely known in the city, diocese and further afield
- Supporting work to increase the diversity of those participating in Cathedral music activities
Contract: Full time (37.5 hours per week), fixed term for two years
Annual leave: 25 days + 8 Bank holidays (usually taken during choir holidays)
