**Vacancy - Project Buyer**

**Purpose**:
To manage the end-to-end procurement of key items to ensure the best possible quality, cost, delivery, and overall supplier reliability for the projects/programmes. Manage associated sourcing and tendering processes in accordance with project deliverables, delivering solutions and options for consideration compliantly and in line with Company governance.

The Project buyer is a key member of the project teams, focusing on procurement throughout the whole project phase (from bid to production, in service and end of contract life). The Project Buyer assures that all project related purchases are prepared and executed in the most optimal conditions: the specified product for the best optimal price with risk managed and mitigated appropriately. As such he/she is contributing to the overall gross margin target of the projects.

**Responsibilities** which shall include as appropriate:

- Carries out procurement tender activity under the direction of the Procurement Lead as appropriate.
- Supports the project team and manages all procurement activity according to agreed procurement processes at project level.
- Builds relationships with Key suppliers.
- Developing product knowledge.
- Interpret data, identifying risk and issues as appropriate.
- Engage with the wider business to promote the procurement function and establish collaborative working relationships within the project teams.

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at A-C grade (or equivalent) - Essential
- Good negotiation skills - Essential
- Ability to analyse cost effectiveness and make sound business decisions - Essential
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities for multiple projects - Essential
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organisation
- Essential
- Ability to work effectively in a high paced and demanding environment - Essential
- Knowledge of purchasing concepts in an engineering/ construction or manufacturing environment - Desirable
- Level 4 or higher CIPS certification, a diploma/degree or relevant experience in a similar role - Desirable
- Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement activities - Desirable
- Ability to read and work with technical engineering drawings and specifications - Desirable

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Overtime

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Birkenhead: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
