Junior Sister (Band 6)

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking professional for the position of Junior Ward Sister within Bridgwater Community Hospital, Inpatient Wards.

This is a permanent contract of 37.5 hours over 7 days.

You will work as a full time clinical lead on the ward, with a focus on patient care, patient experience, supervision and development of staff and their clinical skills, as well asmeeting of targets,ensuring continued high quality care.

As a Band 6 Junior Sister you will have excellent clinical and leadership skills and be responsible for overseeing the ward staff’s development in maintaining and improving standards of care in assessing, implementing and evaluating patient’s treatment plans.

You will work alongside the Senior Ward Sister and deputise for them when required, and support all members of the MDT team.

You will provide nursing care to patients ensuring that patients and their families are treated with compassion, dignity and respect alongside a multi-disciplinary team of therapists and Social Care, therefore collaborative communication skills will be a necessity.

You will be able to promote a safe environment for patients and staff members and oversee the principles of safer staffing on the ward. You will also be responsible for presenting quality information to all members of the Multidisciplinary Team, as well as at the weekly PDF meetings.

As a Junior Ward Sister you be a role model for Staff Nurses and Health Care Assistants and ensure staff that all grades are supported in their work. You will also be responsible for the completion of audits and reports with the guidance of Matron and/or Senior Ward Sister.

You will be required to work flexibly on an internal rotation, which will at times include working days and nights over the seven day week. In return you will receive enhanced payments for weekend work, a generous holiday entitlement and pension scheme.
