**Main Purpose of the Job**:
We are looking for a motivated and well-spoken external sales representative to join our sales team. The external sales representative will be responsible for developing new leads, communicating with customers, understanding their needs, and ensuring a smooth sales process, both face-to-face and over the telephone. You should be able to close sales and meet targets.

The jobholder must uphold the highest standards of the Company and build and maintain relationships with customers using an effective call cycle plan. They will work closely with inside sales staff and make proactive sales calls to potential and existing customers to maximise the company’s business. The jobholder will be responsible for obtaining specific customer requirements and liaising with inside sales and distribution to obtain the best possible fit between customer requirements and the company’s abilities.

To be successful as an external sales representative you should be able to build instant rapport and achieve customer satisfaction. A top external sales representative should also be very competitive and a good listener.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work as the primary point of contact for your customers.
- Create and maintain a strong rapport with all customers.
- Prepare and supply to customers specific / contract quotations ensuring an acceptable profit margin and monitor their effectiveness. Review on a regular basis ‘dormant accounts’ and take appropriate action. Report monthly to the Branch Manager / Managing Director sales and profit trends
- Research and develop sales opportunities using internal sales and management information and external market knowledge. Obtain and feedback competitor and market information and identify areas where improvement in the company is required to effectively compete
- Each face-to-face sales call to be reported electronically via the standard company form. Forward call plans to be provided on a monthly and weekly basis to the local branch
- Work with the Internal Sales Representatives to create and implement target sales strategies
- Help troubleshoot customer orders, customer accounts, and other related issues.
- Order entry in our computer system, as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate leads and opportunities with appropriate teams.
- Proactively stay in touch with our customers, nurture relationships, follow up on customers’ needs to confirm all business opportunities.
- Maintain consistent knowledge of Pyramid’s product lines and promotions, as well as other popular industry products and brands.

**Essential Skills Knowledge and Experience**:

- Computer literate - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Self-Starter: have the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Clean and valid UK driving licence
- Presentable vehicle (mileage allowance is provided)
- To work collaboratively as part of a wider team
- Able to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, learn new tasks and skills, and willingness to do what is necessary to get the job done right
- Work hard & smart—never satisfied with the status quo
- Possess high expectations of what can be accomplished by self & team
- Ability to thrive under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Previous experience in customer service and/or inside sales
- Completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university

- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service
- Experience in the printing or signage industries
- Strong desire to help and serve others in your team

- Competency in MS Office Suite
- Sales experience in the surrounding areas of Birmingham is a plus
