Clinical Technologist

An opportunity has arisen for a technologist/engineer to use their skills to make a real difference to people’s lives by providing technology solutions to people with disabilities in their home, assisting them to access their home environment by installing Environmental Control (EC) equipment and accessing their own computer systems.
It would be an advantage to have worked in a health care setting and or have experience of dealing with patients with communication and/or physical problems. However, it is most important that you have the necessary technical skills and full training will be given regarding patient interventions as well as the equipment that is current in this field. You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team including medical consultant, clinical scientist, occupational therapist and clinical technologists.
We are looking for someone who is self-directed with good time management, with the enthusiasm and motivation to learn the new skills required.
If you think you have the necessary skills and attributes but perhaps do not have the correct qualifications and/or do not have quite the right experience we would still like to hear from you.
EC systems and electronic assistive technology (EAT) are electronic or computer based systems that allow patients with physical disabilities to control their conventional home equipment such as TV remote controls, lights, media, phone, and computer systems. This is achieved through either simple off-the-shelf solutions through to complex computer based controller systems utilising infra-red or radio signals that the patient can operate using a single access method specific to their needs.
As a Clinical Technologist you will be responsible for fitting, maintaining and testing specialist equipment and supporting the team to deliver a timely and efficient service to patients referred for assessment for an environmental control system.
The job will involve travelling to patient homes, nursing homes and other hospitals and the post holder will be required to use of their own car. Expenses for work based travel will be paid.
**Rota**: 30 hours to be worked over 4 days
If the hours of work as stated do not suit your personal situation please contact us to discuss.
Based at Christchurch Hospital
**Interview Date**: TBC
