We’re looking for a self-motivated healthcare administrator with excellent attention-to-detail, and solid experience in a General Practice or other NHS setting, to join our friendly team.

This post will be an exciting challenge for someone keen to use and develop their existing administration skills, supporting our clinical team by workflowing tasks around the Practice accurately and efficiently.

Working in our large, dynamic general practice you’ll work closely with two other members of our administrative team, which sits within our broader team of 50 including GPs, nurse specialists, triage nurse practitioners, and our Reception team.

**Main responsibilities**
- Reporting to the Practice Manager, work within our secretarial team to provide comprehensive medical secretarial and administrative support to the wider Practice team, and to help meet patient needs.
- Share responsibility for reviewing all incoming mail into the Practice on a daily basis - including test results and updates from hospital and other healthcare teams - and filing communications or workflowing tasks to other members of the Practice team as appropriate.
- Analyse and interpret complex medical information, adding appropriate clinical coding when details of diagnoses, co-morbidities or procedures are shared with the Practice.
- Supporting the management of the Practice recall system, for patients with specific health condition.
- Electronic filing and summarising of patients’ medical notes
- Ensuring referrals and communications to other healthcare colleagues are sent appropriately, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Using searches to produce data reports, as required by the Practice Management team
- Communicating directly with patients, NHS and external organisations to resolve administrative issues and queries.
- Working collaboratively and contributing to the effectiveness of the team, by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team’s performance.
- Completing other administrative tasks as required by GP Partners or Practice Manager.

**You must have**
- Administrative experience in a healthcare environment, with additional experience in managing workflow, coding and medical secretarial support
- Good IT literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft Office and clinical IT systems, ideally including Vision and Docman
- Excellent time management skills, with experience managing your workload independently, with an ability to prioritise in line with deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical approach to tasks and commitment to quality
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with both patients, NHS organisations and external parities in an appropriate and professional manner.
- High degree of discretion and experience handling sensitive patient information in a confidential way, in line with NHS requirements
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, which enable you to develop effective working relationships with the rest of the Practice team.
- Ability work in line with Practice health & safety procedures
- Ability to work well within a team and a strong commitment to our efforts to create a positive culture, for the benefit of both patients and staff

**It’d be nice if you had**:

- Experience of working in General Practice, although this isn’t essential
- A qualification or evidence of training in relevant disciplines, for example clinical coding. medical secretarial work or IT
