**EXPERIENCED GROOM WANTED**
We are looking for an experienced groom to join us on our farm.
Our groom would need to support the care of the horses and ponies who live here, to train youngsters and/or rescue horses or horses in rehab.
The role involves performing day to day tasks associated with the care, rehab, exercise and training of equines, and supporting others, including children and young people, and the staff that work at the farm, to look after the equine (horses and donkeys) on the farm.
**GENERAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Being a leader and role model to others in the general care and facilitation of care of horses and other animals on the farm.
Following and giving instructions and directions from the supervisor, owners and other customers farrier, veterinarian, or other relevant horse or yard professional on assisting with the day-to-day care of horses.
Undertake various groundwork and ridden rehab or training exercises with horses as part of their individual needs, this includes a range of horses of all sizes, shapes and needs. THIs also includes riding if the role holder is a skilled rider.
Maintaining health check lists, taking responsibility for making sure horses are comfortable and well looked after through the day and week. Preparing horses for use/riding or exercise, including using a horse walker, long reining and various ground and ridden exercises.
Maintaining various work lists such as day to day tasks, vaccination lists, worming overview and other administrative tasks associated with the day to day care of all horses on the farm.
Liaising with the staff, proprietors and horse owners as needed about their horses, and planning and loading with staff.
Supporting equine learning sessions as required and according to own skill level and ability.
Day to day tasks include:
Mucking out stables
Providing hay, feed, or supplements, and water to horses on the farm.
Cleaning buckets and tubs used in the feeding process.
Grooming, tacking up/untacking, and bathing horses.
Cleaning all horse equipment/tack and tack rooms
General ground work, this may include hand walking, lungeing, turning in/out horses, long reining and other ground and ridden work
Maintaining the yard area - sweeping, washing, and general cleaning.
First Aid delivery to horses.
Handling horses for the veterinarian, farrier, or trainer during medical or other treatments.
Attend events/competitions/clinics as a groom, supporting the care of the horses during events.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**
**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
Track record of experience and skill in Ground work and ridden work as part of training and/or rehab of horses.
Confident horse handler
Yard work experience
Relevant Equine qualification preferred
Positive attitude essential
Good interpersonal skills
Horse care experience essential
Experience of managing big performance horses essential
**Salary entirely dependent on qualification, experience and riding ability**
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £23,500.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift

- Liss, Hampshire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
