We are looking for a dedicated Finance Assistant to join our small, knowledgeable and friendly accounts team. As a Finance Assistant, you will provide essential support to the Finance Manager on a daily basis, ensuring the efficient functioning of the finance department.

Your collaboration with our US parent company's finance department will be crucial in meeting deadlines. Additionally, you will be responsible for covering the Finance Manager during their absence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage the end-to-end process of Accounts Payable, including receiving supplier invoices and preparing payment runs for approval.
- Handle Accounts Receivable tasks, such as debt chasing, credit-checking, and providing limit recommendations/reviews.
- Create new supplier and customer accounts following company guidelines.
- Process bank transactions and perform monthly reconciliations of multiple bank accounts.
- Maintain control over company credit cards and reconcile statements.
- Address and resolve supplier inquiries.
- Support the preparation of the annual budget.
- Prepare Quarterly VAT returns for both our UK and French entities and submit them to the relevant agent.
- Assist in preparing payroll information for our UK and French entities, to be submitted to the outsourced payroll bureau.
- Aid in customer rebate calculations and maintain accurate records.
- Organise and file documents efficiently.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.

This role requires a team player with excellent multitasking abilities. You should be prepared to take on increasing responsibilities as the position evolves over time which include:

- Assisting with Monthly Financial Statements
- Prepare monthly journals and reconciliations for review by the Finance Manager
- Generate key statistics reports for inclusion in the monthly financial reporting pack.
- Assist with month-end close and annual audit processes.

Experience required
- Currently studying or holding the AAT or other professional accountancy qualification.
- Have a minimum of 2 years experience in general finance.
- Understanding of foreign exchange accounting is beneficial due to transactions in £, $, and €.
- Experience in handling supplier invoices, payment processing, and reconciling bank accounts.
- Experience with VAT returns and submission processes is an advantage
- Knowledge of payroll procedures and collaboration with outsourced payroll bureaus is an advantage
- Familiarity with filing and organising financial documents.
- Previous exposure to manufacturing accounting is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to handle foreign exchange accounting for transactions involving foreign currencies
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with internal and external teams
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively.
- Proven multitasking capabilities and ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Adaptability and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as the role evolves.
