We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced nurse within Oncology. We are looking for an inspirational, driven and motivated individual who has quality and patient experience at their heart to join our Oncology team at UHD. Based at Poole or Bournemouth hospital but who is willing to work across site with both teams.

This new immunotherapy Trainee ECP role will work as part of a newly created Immunotherapy team (Band 7, a band 6 (this role) and band 4). The aim is to develop a dedicated team of immunotherapy toxicity specialists to improve patient safety, reduce the need for admission and reduce the workload of site specific teams across Dorset. The new IO team will work in close collaboration with the SACT ACP's, and site specific clinical teams managing patients on SACT.

To help develop the immunotherapy service alongside oncology consultants/oncology nurse practitioner/Lead SACT practitioner/immunotherapy ECP

To provide a specialist nursing service for patients requiring immunotherapy treatment and toxicity management

Be an autonomous practitioner, but work with guidance from consultants and ACP/ECP within speciality and work towards influencing patient care and service provision. They will exercise levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making in treatment of immunotherapy

This is a training post, and the post holder will be expected to study locally to obtain the ECP qualification

The post holder will contribute to the continued development of the specialist service with the oncology consultants/oncology nurse practitioners/Lead SACT practitioner. Once qualified this will include the management of a caseload of patients, working at an enhanced level, where they influence all aspects of care and management of patients prescribed immunotherapy, with oversight of the clinical teams

Ensure the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, prioritising and utilising research in every day practice as appropriate

Promoting best practice and delivering coordinated quality cancer care to patients and their families

Participate in education and training for immunotherapy

Work across organisations to promote cancer care to ensure an integrated approach to care management between localities, organisations and care agencies.

You will be a Registered Nurse with, or working towards, a master’s degree or equivalent experience. You will be expected to study towards the enhanced clinical practitioner qualification, by undertaking the apprenticeship course in the area. You will need to have a track record of strong collaborative working, be able to build excellent relationships, and have the ability to innovate and be a key decision maker.

This role requires NMC Registration.
