**What is Wild Minds?**

Wild Minds is a programme which utilises outdoor environments to achieve a range of goals and objectives, with a focus on personal social development. We have access to the coast, Dartmoor and countryside areas. It’s guaranteed that we can find a location which fits the desired outcomes. We can work on cross curricular targets and it’s not just outbound outdoor learning. Supporting learners in their classrooms, sports halls and working alongside therapists is all part of what the Wild Minds staff do on a day to day basis. Poles APart aims to inspire young people to discover hobbies and interests which are outside of doors and leads them to develop social circles and utilise the outdoor environments close to their homes.

**Job Role**

You will be responsible for delivering and/or assisting the delivery of an engaging, outdoor programme (Wild Minds) which is inclusive, fun, safe and encouraging, and to support students in gaining relevant qualifications and certificates.

This includes delivering and directing students (as well as other key worker staff) through a range of outdoor excursions such as:

- outdoor activities
- classroom lessons
- sessions and field studies trips linked to the termly topic
- making decisions in the field to promote safety and engagement
- assisting other Key Workers deliver and support learning tasks
- To complete learning journals at the end of the day
- maintaining and monitoring the safe use of equipment
- To prepare and pack lunch for students during the day

You will require a good knowledge of the outdoor spaces within a 45 minute travel time from Exeter and Tiverton, including coastal, woodland and moorland environments. You will report to the Wild Minds Manager/Centre Manager and aid them in creating bespoke programmes for our students across a range of environments.

At times you may be required to work within a different department depending on staffing requirements.

**Who we are looking for**:
We are looking for people who are proactive, enthusiastic and well motivated in delivering outdoor sessions to young people. You will need to have the ability to alter plans on the spot and use your knowledge of the local areas to keep students engaged throughout the day.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Essential**:

- Experience working with SEN/SEMH
- Experience working in the outdoor environment
- Personal experience of coastal, moorland and rural wild places
- Experience of working alongside and amending relevant risk assessments
- Good organisational skills

**Desirable**:

- Forest School Leader/Bushcraft
- Walking Group Leader/HML
- Climbing Wall Instructor
- Survival Skills Qualification
- 16 hour outdoor First Aid
- Full Driving Licence

Pay: £18,623.17-£20,000.00 per year
