**The Opportunity**

We are recruiting for a Head of Operational Capability role which is a ‘first of a kind’ role, on a ‘first of a kind’ project. The role holder will develop the strategy and deliver the operational capability for Hinkley Point C (HPC) and share learning and development with our sister project Sizewell C (SZC).

This is an exciting opportunity, the role holder will be part of helping Britain achieve net zero. HPC is a mega infrastructure nuclear new build project in Somerset and when complete, it will provide low carbon electricity for 6 million homes for 60 years.

As the Head of Operational Capability, you will be responsible for developing and delivering strategies for organisational capability design, governance, oversight, and delivery. You will deliver a sustainable operational capability and long-term future of HPC by understanding the needs of the business to drive continuous improvement and deliver exemplar world-class industry performance.

As your role evolves there will be a requirement for you to work with SZC to share organisational learning and look for opportunities for organisational efficiency.

**What you’ll be doing**

You will develop and deliver approaches to organisation capability and design, including operating models and organisational structures set up to deliver end to end value for HPC.

You will also need to set the vision for transformation from nuclear construction project to operational nuclear power station.

In collaboration with other teams in HPC, and with the support of industrial best practice guidance, you will develop the HPC roadmap to operational readiness with respect to the people related topics of building operational capacity and capability.

You will partner with senior leaders across HPC to solve complex operational capability challenges.

You will also be required to ensure that programme related business plans are underpinned by detailed and robust capability, capacity, and financial development proposals.

**Who you are**

Your background may include some of the following:
Essential
- Qualified to degree standard or equivalent
- Background within a nuclear power station environment (or similar industry) with significant management and leadership experience at Station Management Team level or equivalent
- Experience of business planning and monitoring processes
- Experience in building capability, change management, and governance and oversight principles.
- Substantive evidence of an effective and collaborative approach to achieving results
- Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organisation and integrity to challenge the business and executive teams
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of cultural design and cultural change theory and practice

Desirable
- Qualification in Business or Management
- Financial acumen and experience of business planning and budget management
- Organisational and leadership psychology knowledge
- Experience of coaching and mentoring in the workplace
- Appreciation of the Systematic Approach to Training in a large organisation with broad and complex requirements
