Hull Culture and Leisure is seeking to recruit a Caretaker/Driver on a casual basis. You will part of a team undertaking the monitoring of building related health and safety and maintenance issues, including communicating with internal and external contractors. You will also be required to deliver library materials to libraries and other venues, this will include lifting and carrying, driving and using equipment.

As part of the role you will support both library staff and the public, sometimes this might mean dealing with confrontational or emergency situations.

Preparing for events and other activities is another important part of the role, this will include setting up tables, chairs, staging and other equipment, unlocking venues, dealing with customers by acting as a first point of contact on the door, etc.

You will need to demonstrate experience of working with the public and as part of a team.

Skills and experience required includes:

- Maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Keeping records.
- Keep calm and look for solutions when a difficulty arises.
- Good customer care skills, including diplomacy, calmness and tact to achieve good customer care standards in a sometimes pressured situation, for example when dealing with difficult customers, etc.
- Proven ability to work on your own initiative whilst also being a good and supportive member of the team.
- Basic understanding of stock control, fire safety, how to use a computer etc.
