Communications Assistant with Evoc

The Communications Assistant works with the Head of Communications and Membership Engagement to deliver the organisation’s communications and membership engagement plans.

The role will perform a wide range of tasks to support campaign plans including writing copy for offline and online channels, coordinating social media activity and creating content for a variety of audiences.

The main responsibilities of the role are outlined below:

- Working with the Head of Communications and Membership Engagement and other colleagues to:

- manage all communication channels, including the company website, social media and e-communications
- devise a range of engaging content to support all organisational campaigns and action plans
- Working with the management team to deliver effective internal communications
- Supporting the delivery of the EVOC programme of online and face-to-face events
- Building, maintaining and developing relationships with a range of stakeholders including voluntary sector groups and organisations, City of Edinburgh Council staff, Scottish Government staff, press and media contacts and suppliers
- Supporting the delivery of Edinburgh’s Third Sector Interface (TSI) manifesto and all TSI-level marketing and communications campaigns
- Championing data protection, supporting awareness and good practice across the organisation and helping EVOC staff to adhere to the general data protection regulations (GDPR)

**Requirements**:

- the ability to manage content planning, edit and produce videos and graphics, etc.
- experience of campaign planning and measuring success
- demonstrable copywriting and research skills and the ability to write for a range of communications channels and stakeholder groups
- experience of working with a variety of software programmes including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- experience in using a range of digital platforms and communications tools including website content management systems, e.g., WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, Mailchimp, Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- attention to detail and time management skills
- highly effective interpersonal skills
- a proven ability to work as a member of a team and on own initiative
- the ability to work to deadlines under pressure
