Environmental Specialist

Role Overview:
Huntsman is currently looking for a motivated Environmental Specialist to join our EHS team, to be based at our Wynyard or Duxford sites, or on a home-based contract.

This position is responsible for providing advisory support to production sites located in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East to achieve permit compliance, continuously improve efficiency, share Huntsman's best practices and reduce costs through the use of shared services.

Role Responsibilities:
As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for:

- Providing technical and policy advice to management on Green Deal requirements, Circular Economy Action Plan, and regional sustainability legislation in each country.
- Ensuring regional data assessment and reporting of information to relevant packaging systems in Member States to meet local packaging and packaging waste directive regulations.
- Acting as a program manager alongside internal supply teams and data managers to enhance the collection and transfer of digital sustainability data.
- Advising EAME facility operators on environmental management, monitoring and corporate improvement processes, and guiding Huntsman companies on implementing the Huntsman Principles and Standards.
- Monitoring legislative activities and informing Huntsman management of potential impacts and affected manufacturing facilities. This includes the synthesis and assimilation of current environmental legislation and advice on general environmental issues.
- Collaborating with UK and US colleagues and managers.

Experience and Competencies:
What we are looking for:

- A degree in a relevant scientific discipline, ideally with at least two years of experience in a sustainability role or sustainability projects.
- Knowledge of European environmental issues, the objectives of the Green Deal, the Industrial Emissions Directive and permit systems.
- The ability to build strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in addition to good communication and influencing skills.
- Experience in reporting to packaging systems in multiple countries to meet local regulations implementing the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive or equivalent in sustainability reporting.
- Familiarity with data handling, spreadsheets, or database tools for viewing stored information and evaluating sustainability indicators, knowledge of SAP would be appreciated.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental issues and approval processes combined with expertise in specific areas to influence others within Huntsman regarding compliance and risk.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written, to conduct research throughout the EAME region, consult with third parties and produce reports. Fluency in any additional European language would be an asset.
- Ability to travel on an occasional basis, throughout our EMEA Region.
