‘Sustainable Warmth’ is the project title under which Chelmsford residents have the potential to access £1.76M of Government grant funding. This funding is to help improve the thermal efficiency of homes and reduce energy costs through the installation of effective home insulation and renewable energy under grants available by virtue of ‘LAD3 (Local Authority Delivery) and HUG (Home Upgrade Grant).

We are looking to appoint a project officer to ensure residents at risk of fuel poverty take full advantage of this funding to improve their homes, living conditions and help save on ever-rising heating costs.

The successful applicant will have excellent project development and implementation skills; experience of successfully communicating ideas to groups and individuals; the empathy to understand barriers to change and ability to develop community groups and sustainable partnerships to grow and drive the project to a successful conclusion.

The successful applicant will be working in Public Health and Protection Services, reporting to the Housing Standards Lead Officer. They will work with other Council officers and external partners across the County and Region to develop, share and implement best practice. The main focus will be the successful delivery of the Sustainable Warmth Agenda, but there will also be a need to keep abreast of national and regional matters that impact on this agenda and to support the delivery of other Council initiatives and projects linked to thermal efficiency and carbon reduction as well as briefing colleagues, managers and councillors as necessary.

This role is for a 18-month Fixed Term position and will be based in the Civic Centre in Chelmsford with the ability to work some days from home. The successful applicant will be expected to engage directly and personally with the communities that they are supporting.

The working week will predominantly be Monday to Friday, however the nature of the role and the ability and requirement to engage with the community means that it is likely that evening and weekend activity will be necessary.

Interviews are currently scheduled for the week commencing 22nd May.
