Bridgwater, United Kingdom Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The successful applicant will have a commitment to contributing to the delivery of person-centred, quality services to people with autism, some of whom may be experiencing enduring mental health difficulties. The post holder will require good communication and organisational skills and enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team. You will have an undergraduate degree in psychology (or conversion degree) which meets the requirements of Graduate Basis for registration with the British Psychological Society. Specialist knowledge of autism and the assessment of possible autism is not a prerequisite; we are seeking someone who has an interest in working with autistic adults and neurodiverse clients. We would like to appoint two Assistant Psychologists who bring energy and enthusiasm to the team with a willingness to learn and freedom to bring new ideas.

The post-holder will attend weekly team referrals meetings and will receive regular supervision from Clinical and/or Counselling Psychologists in the team. They will assist with enquiries into the service, and supporting people through their journey with our service, from referral to discharge. They will play a key part in data collection, analysis, service evaluations and audit as part of our developing service. They will work jointly with members of the team to assist with pre-assessment work, diagnostic assessments, and post-diagnostic support, including co-facilitating groups. There are opportunities to get involved in coproduced projects with our team of Experts by Experience.

We have good links with adult services in Somerset, autism teams within the Southwest, and with Exeter University Clinical Psychology training course. We regularly host Doctoral trainees on placement with the team. There are opportunities to link in with the wider psychology team within the trust including qualified psychologists, trainees, assistant psychologists, and other psychological professionals. We are committed to supporting people with their professional development.
