Complimentary Therapist

Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity for 18 months

Mulbarton ward is a 34 bedded unit caring for oncology and palliative patients.

We are looking for a team of complimentary therapists to offer patients/carers and staff with massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and reiki to provide comfort and support and impart a feeling of wellbeing. This will offer relief of symptoms of anxiety, tension, nausea and insomnia.

This is a 18month fixed term contract funded by NNUH charitable funds.

The complementary therapist coordinator will provide a holistic, evidence based complementary therapy interventions to patients/carers/bereaved/staff

To provide a service as a member of the Complementary Therapies Team and practice the therapy which has been agreed, in accordance with the policies of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

- Responsible for organising and planning own caseload in order to meet service and patient priorities. Readjusting plans as situations change / arise.
- Record caseload activity and report as required by the Trust according to complementary therapy guidelines and trust policies
- Adhere to the policy relating to the safe use and storage of essential oils. To order essential oils as required.
- Be an active member of regular in-service training within the Complementary Therapy department preparing and providing sessions as appropriate.
- Assist in the orientation and integration of new Complementary Therapy staff members.
- Comply with the Trust Manual Handling Policy at all times.
- Abide by the Trusts’ Health and safety Policies.
- Complete required mandatory training.
- Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of complementary therapies, in particular reflexology.
- Provide a holistic approach to patients and their carers, in collaboration with the other members of the multidisciplinary team, to ensure the provision of the highest quality of care.
