**Job objectives and responsibilities**:

- **To proactively promote, design, as necessary, and deliver educational activities within ICT to meet the needs of the detainees and contractual requirements.**:

- **To provide a **safe, secure, stimulating, supportive and productive environment for detainees thatencourages them to attend and enables them to learn and develop their skills.**

**Main duties** **and accountabilities**
- **Assess the ICT level of all learners who come into the classroom and provide a short induction to detainees to encourage their participation and ensure that the teaching provided is relevant and interesting.**
- **Develop and deliver core modular courses and as appropriate advanced advamced teaching modules and the learning programme, supporting and encouraging all learners to enable them to achieve their learning objectives.**
- **Actively promote e-learning and further education opportunities in the classroom where appropriate**
- **Actively promote the opportunities available to ensure detainees are informed and there is optimal uptake.**
- **Create and maintain a safe, secure, positive and friendly learning environment where detainees feel welcomed and respected.**
- **Monitor attendance, retention and achievement figures and assist in the development of strategies and procedures and make improvements to maximise these.**
- **Ensure the completion of all documentation and administration in line with company policies and any external agency requirements so that accurate, compliant data is maintained and provided.**
- **Use all resources effectively to ensure quality of service and value for money.**
- **Manage the learning environment ensuring maintenance and security of tools and equipment at all times to relevant standards.**
- **Advise on equipment and purchases necessary to meet contractual requirements and best practice within education.**
- **Support Regimes covering other areas as required to ensure continuity of service.**
- **Undertake further duties to support the Regimes department and the delivery of relevant vocational courses as required.**

**Person Specification**
- **An appropriate teaching qualification and experience is required.**:

- **Experience within the custodial setting would be advantageous.**:

- **Experience of working with ESOL learners would be advantageous and a patient and understanding attitude to the language problems faced by learners is essential.**
