**Company Overview**

We are a family business which started and is still based in the Scottish Borders. As a Family we originally started the 1st GreenThumb franchises in Scotland and sold these businesses in 2014.

In 2008 TurfPlus was started as a consultation business for National Home Builders. Companies such as Barratt, Bellway, Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon, Keepmoat, Avant, Cala - all use us to troubleshoot the tens of thousands of lawns they Turf each year.

We currently employ over 10 employees and are viewed as the authority on lawns in the building sector.

We restore 100s of lawns each year to beautiful conditions using our specialist knowledge and know how.

**Requirements for this position**

A reasonably clean driving license is a must

Good communication skills are necessary

Gardening/Landscaping experience would be a plus Education in the Greenkeeping industry would be an advantage Pesticide Licenses would be another advantage.

However as a trainee lawn specialist you will be trained to a very high standard in all things lawn. We do not cut grass - however an integral part of your work would be using Hollow Tine Aerators, Industrial Scarifiers, Soil Reconditioning units, Knapsack Sprayers and Fertiliser Spreaders.

You would be trained on how to identify, diagnose and treat:

- Soil Disorders
- Pernicious Weeds
- Lawn Disease
- Lawn Infestation
- Fungal Presence
- And much more

**Your Responsibilities**

To start with you would be responsible for learning as much as possible about the lawn care industry and you would be assigned with an experienced lawn specialist to mentor you. Our owner started and ran the largest lawn care company in Scotland for nearly 20 years, and he still takes a keen interest in training new employees - so you would benefit from this experience too.

You would be required to carry out some education at college - small courses to help you qualify for safe pesticide usage and very occasional work on building sites.

Customer service is another key part of our work, especially as we are mainly used by building companies to rectify issues previous landscaping companies have failed to resolve.

Our quality control program will undoubtedly help you hone your skills.

Part-time hours: 24-40 per week

**Salary**: From £11.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Our H&S is very high and part of this is dealing with COVID. We endeavour to have a balanced approach - our clients do too. We work a lot outdoors which helps.

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping Occupations: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Pa1/ Pa6 Spraying Certificate (preferred)
- Driving Licence (required)

Work authorisation:

- United Kingdom (required)

Willingness to travel:

- 25% (required)
