**About the role**

This role is a great opportunity offering a high level of autonomy and exposure to multiple technologies and platforms.

**The responsibilities**

Reporting to the Head of Web Development, and working as part of the Web Development team, the Software Engineer responsibilities include:

- Write well-designed, testable code.
- Leading and planning specific tasks as needed.
- Liaising with colleagues to implement technical design.
- Recommending solutions and spotting new opportunities for technology to drive IGD forward.
- Scoping and estimating development project tasks.
- Eliciting and validating business requirements and technical specifications.
- Formulating and communicating software architecture decisions.

**What the Software Engineer brings**

**Technical**
- Experience of Web Application development using Microsoft ASP.NET (Azure experience beneficial)
- Working knowledge of front-end JavaScript frameworks, CSS and HTML5
- Working knowledge of Data-Management tools and methods
- Experience of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

**Desirable**
- Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Experience with Azure DevOps
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

**General**
- A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualise processes and outcomes.
- Good all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Professional diplomacy, discretion, and integrity
- Effective time management and task planning skills
