As part of our continued investment in the future, we're now recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join our team at our Dalton (Thirsk) manufacturing site.
**The Role**:
Reporting to the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager and working alongside our site and warehousing team, you will assist with the efficient control and organisation of the company’s warehouse.
This key role is essential to ensuring that the department runs efficiently, and the warehouse team are effectively managed.
This is both a practical and an administrative role, and you will be required to liaise with the site team, and the wider team across the business in order to ensure that orders are dispatched on time & in full, in doing so you will play a very important role in the performance of the business.
**Warehouse Supervisor - Responsibilities may include but are not limited to**
- Effectively manage a small team of warehouse operatives.
- Effectively manage incoming deliveries of all raw materials (excluding bulk powders), packaging & finished goods.
- Ensure that all incoming deliveries are checked, signed for and correctly stored in the appropriate location.
- Prepare customer orders for dispatch and manage the movement of these orders through our approved hauliers.
- Ensure the correct rotation of stock with regards to batch number, date of production and life expectancy of the product.
- Ensure that consistently high standards of housekeeping are maintained throughout at all times.
- Monitor the effectiveness of current stock rotation & stock control techniques and offer suggestions for improvement to senior managers.
- Ensure that daily inspections of all forklift trucks are performed in line with current LOLER guidelines and report any defects to the safety team.
- Ensure that safe working practices are maintained in line with current health & safety regulations whilst liaising with senior managers to ensure accident & incident rates are actively reduced wherever possible.
- Maintain adequate warehouse stock levels & actively participate in scheduled stock checks.
- Support the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager in driving improvement within the department.
- Provide cover for the department as and when required.
**Experience / Skills / Attributes Required**
- Experience of operating in a medium/large manufacturing business.
- Good understanding of inventory systems, warehouse processes, and operating procedures.
- Good knowledge of safety compliance applied to working situations.
- Ability to work under pressure, and be able to assess risk effectively to make relevant and informed decisions.
- Good computer literacy and be able to communicate and record information effectively.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask.
- Good communication skills when under pressure.
- Counterbalance Forklift truck licence essential, Flexi Articulated forklift truck licence highly desirable.
- A good track history of warehousing experience with a minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience using barcoding systems and handheld scanners to facilitate stock movement within an ERP system.
- Good understanding of warehouse practices and inventory control techniques.
