Due to significant growth in demand for our corporate GHG accounting, reporting and emissions reduction services, there is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our climate change consultancy team, focussing on the heavy industry sector.- Accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions), including developing greenhouse gas inventories for heavy industry and hard to abate sectors aligned with industry best practice- Identifying technological and strategic GHG reduction opportunities in company operations and the value chain and integrating these into strategic roadmaps for climate action- Reporting climate performance in annual sustainability reports and CDP disclosures.- Embedding climate change within risk management frameworks and strategy planning and implementation- Physical climate change and low carbon transition risk assessments, including alignment to the TCFD recommendations- Helping engage and build governance capacity from the board, through executive management teams down to the ‘shop floor’.

Our role as Consulting Associate is to help our clients to achieve their sustainable development objectives, and to manage their related business risks and opportunities effectively.

Role and key responsibilities

As a Net Zero Consulting Associate at ERM, you will play a pivotal role in assisting organisations in their journey towards achieving net-zero emissions. Projects typically extend across Net Zero strategy, GHG inventories and decarbonisation strategies. What you can expect from the role:- Supporting and ensuring that the outputs enable our clients to meet assessment and disclosure needs;- Help to prepare reports, workshop materials, presentations, and technical summaries- Supporting partners and teams to develop proposals, including for clients across a wide range of sectors.

CORE SKILLS

Technical knowledge- Relevant experience in environmental consulting / climate change / related industry position.- Specific sector experience in heavy industry would be an advantage, as would experience of high-impact/high complexity industries to bring a broader knowledge to the team.- Experience and technical knowledge of GHG accounting and reporting principles, mechanisms, methodologies and schemes, e.g. GHG Protocol, SECR, SBTi, EEIO etc.- Good awareness / appreciation of:
- Climate legislation and the drivers for our clients taking action.-
- Management systems.-
- MACC analysis / economic analysis of GHG/energy reductions.-
- Links between energy and climate change.Technical skills- Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).- Strong Excel capabilities - advanced functionality and the ability to build complex tools, with the willingness and ability to further upskill.- Experience of data manipulation and visualisation tools in addition to Excel would be an advantage.- Experience of managing large projects and programmes.- Efficient and effective project planning (i.e. managing work and deliverables; resourcing and budgeting; delegating and managing a team).- Highly numerate and comfortable with large datasets including conversions and calculations.- Excellent written and oral presentation skills.- Excellent technical writing skills and ability to synthesise reports to a very high standard.
