Kendal, often dubbed ‘The Gateway to the Lakes’, is a beautiful, vibrant commercial and tourist centre. With an impressive history it has an equally impressive range of projects and initiatives for maintaining success and prosperity through the recently launched Kendal Vision. This is where you come in.

We’re looking for an exceptional individual to manage and motivate our projects, services and events team, and ensure we can deliver on this vision. The role is broad, challenging and high-profile; balancing the long-term planning with tactical, immediate needs and solutions. In particular you will:

- Work with partner organisations and grant funders to ensure a cohesive strategy and best practice implementation plan is maintained.
- Ensure we remain ‘on brand’ with all our external communications, from the website and social media to press releases and newsletters.
- Manage - through your team - the continuous delivery of all services and events to the highest standards.
- Ensure all activities meet compliance with current legislation and that we keep aware of any changes, updating our processes accordingly.
- Maintain regular contact with your team, ensuring they are developed, motivated, and performing at their best, all underpinned by a keen and compassionate eye on their wellbeing.

We’re looking for previous experience in local government, and a CiLCA or equivalent qualification, where you have managed and developed a team. You’ll be adept at managing a diverse range of projects, constantly assessing changing priorities and communicating with a high degree of clarity and influence.

You will build strong internal and external relationships and focus clearly on the goals and outcomes required by the council, showing tenacity and imagination to solve any challenges that may come your way. All whilst adhering to local council governance, finance and organisational good practice.

In return we offer a challenging and rewarding next step up for you, with a wide remit, real autonomy and the satisfaction of seeing your success mirrored in the local community.
