As we push towards a net zero future, effective communication is more vital than ever. We are seeking a passionate and driven Future Energy Content Lead to join our Future Energy Scenarios team at National Grid ESO. As a Future Energy Content Lead, you will help to shape the narrative around the transition to a low carbon society.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be at the forefront of driving change in the energy landscape to join our team of innovative thinkers.

This role can be based from Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

**About us**:
At National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO), we’re aiming to operate a zero-carbon electricity system for Great Britain by 2025. This means using wind, solar and hydropower - without relying on any carbon-based generators to balance the grid.

**Becoming the Energy Future System Operator**

As you may have seen the Government and Ofgem have asked the ESO to take on new roles and responsibilities

Becoming the Energy Future System Operator is a critical step to help deliver a reliable and clean energy transition for all. The ESO, including all of its existing roles, will be at the heart of the new Future System Operator, taking on additional roles with a whole energy system mindset to drive progress towards net zero while maintaining energy security and minimising costs for consumers.

The new organisation will be set up as a public corporation with operational independence from government - bringing parties together to support optimised decision making and action. As now, it will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements. It is anticipated that the new organisation will be up and running by or in 2024.

The time to act on climate change is now. As part of our team, you won’t just be touching the lives of almost everyone in Great Britain - you’ll be shaping the way we use and consume energy for generations to come.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Write content for the ESO flagship publication Future Energy Scenarios document which looks at how the UK will reach net zero by 2050
- Develop materials for the highly anticipated launch of the Future Energy Scenarios
- Create content for our Energy Articles, webinars and general stakeholder engagement
- Bring new ideas for the way we engage with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure we continue to grow our network
- Support our Stakeholder Lead in planning stakeholder engagement events throughout the year
- Review industry updates to produce internal summary briefing notes

**About you**:
What we do isn’t just important - it’s essential. That’s why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, we’re looking for someone who:

- Some experience of external communications for complex topics and the ability to produce written content that is relevant, clear, and targeted at the right audience in a timely manner
- Ability to work collaboratively with our Energy Insight Leads and Corporate Affairs team to create content for a broad range of stakeholders
- General working knowledge of, and passion to learn, how the GB energy industry works and how it must evolve to meet the 2050 net zero targets
- Creativity to consider new ways of engaging with our stakeholders

**What you'll get**:
A competitive salary between £42,000 - £47,000 pa - dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
