We have an exciting opportunity for a Short Breaks Co-Ordinator, within Torbay’s Children's services. This role is for 14.8 hours per week.
This position will be co-ordinating, recruiting and allocating staff to work with our young people with disabilities who require a short breaks.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and dedicated individual to job share with another member of staff, the working days will be Monday and Tuesday.
You will coordinate and recruit staff to work with families who have children with disabilities, engage everyone in a friendly, enthusiastic, inclusive and motivated way, organise staffing rota’s, session plans, ensure young peoples records are accurate and evaluations completed.
You will need to be compassionate, understanding and trustworthy with a patient and tolerant personality, have good communication skills with the ability to get on well with the children, young people, their parents and other professionals.
You must have the ability to work under pressure and be proactive to use your own initiative whenever required along with a willingness to learn and develop through formal training and informal feedback.
Experience in working with young people with additional needs and a good sense of humour will be required, and an understanding of safeguarding children and health and safety.
You will need to demonstrate that you can working in a restorative way, supporting change and overcoming barriers through co-produced solutions, which you will be supported in delivering.
**This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.**
**Interviews are expected to be conducted during the week commencing 17th June 2024.**
**Skills**:
Essential:
- Ability to work with a diverse range of employees, service users and their families.
- Ability to work to timely schedules in line with the service needs and delivery.
- Ability to implement new or adapted processes to meet the needs of allocations and evaluating the services.
- Proven ability to balance work pressures against time scales and needs of the service.
- Ability to produce reports from recorded data for analysis purposes.
**As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.**
**Knowledge**:
Essential:
- Understand the need for gathering, monitoring, and recording data information from a range of services, families, and staff for use in a range of settings.
- Extensive knowledge of working with children with complex needs and their families.
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of providing a positive approach to the work with colleagues and families.
- Understanding the role of HR Champion within the service.
- Have a good knowledge of the functions and purpose of in-house services to ensure accurate information is provided to colleagues, families, and agencies.
**Experience & Qualifications**:
Essential:
- GCSE Maths & English.
- Health and Social Care Qualification.
- Working in the health, social care environment with children and families.
