Research Assistant/associate in Atmospheric Methane

A position exists, for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on Atmospheric Methane Removal.

The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are:

- Application of analytical fluid dynamic techniques, combined with numerical and empirical approaches to determine fluxes at device to global scales.
- Writing of progress reports to fulfil the requirements of the grant and contribution to research publications of the University's Energy Group.
- Liaise and collaborate with project partners
- Organisation and attendance to project relevant meetings with project partners and other academic and industrial participants.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are:

- Applicants must have (or are about to obtain) a PhD in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics or a related discipline pertaining to fluid structure interactions and mass transport.
- communicate technical content across specialist and non-specialist audiences
- structure and present technical project reports
- research experience, for example via a dissertation thesis, in fluid dynamics and mass transport.
- experience in using analytical, numerical and empirical approaches to analysing and optimizing mass transport.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 15 months in the first instance.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £29,605 - £33,966 Research Associate: £36,024 - £44,263
