Patient/customer care (both direct and indirect) Providing a key role in the delivery of an effective and efficient service for governance review for externally sponsored research studies Provide concise and accurate information to researchers on our research approvals and governance review processes and requirements for externally sponsored research studies Policy development To implement all policies relating to own area of work in line with the requirements of UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care To assist in the maintenance and further development of standard operating procedures and policies relating to management of externally sponsored studies Study set-up To work with the LCRN in delivering an effective and efficient process for project approvals. This will include working with the team to ensure that the approval of new studies is achieved within the specified national deadlines To undertake site level assessments for potential research projects and determine, through discussion with the research staff and service support leads whether or not the research can commence To provide advice on use of IRAS to Trust researchers and external partners when required Feasibility and site identification Support the timely distribution, completion, collation and review of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and Pre-Selected Site Review forms Assist feasibility assessment with the research team and support departments ensuring timely completion Work with the study team, multi-disciplinary team and support departments to ensure robust setting of recruitment targets, develop recruitment plans, contingency and study milestone schedules Attendance at site selection / site initiation visits Work with LCRN to project future workload and resource requirements Support the collection of LCRN study feasibility data Identify externally sponsored studies which may be eligible for inclusion in the NIHR CRN portfolio Assist the LCRN scoping and mapping activities Study delivery and patient recruitment Support recruitment to time and target Troubleshoot and/or highlight problems with recruitment Track and feedback recruitment problems and issues with staff cover Identify early blocks to performance and develop strategies to deal with these Work closely with the R&D Operations Manager and the LCRN to escalate issues Assist in the collection and collation of patient recruitment information required for internal and external reporting Prepare quarterly reports on current research activity, illustrating achievements, future goals of the team/department/Trust and highlighting any effective or efficient use of LCRN supported infrastructure Communication Build and maintain strong working relationships with Trust staff, external research partners, the appropriate speciality group leads and research active/interested investigators Contribute to communications within the Trust and the LCRN informing both of best practice examples and news on the ground for use in reports and newsletters Represent the Trust at a local level To assist in the maintenance of the Research Office Intranet and Internet pages, ensuring staff have access to effective and up-to-date policies and advice Resource management Assisting the processes associated with reimbursement of patients expenses Information management To have a role in maintaining an accurate and efficient system for the recording and reporting of patient recruitment activity for externally sponsored research projects on-going in the Trust ensuring that the information produced meets local (internal and external) and national reporting requirements General To work under own initiative on delegated areas of responsibility to agreed deadlines To undertake other such duties as required To abide by the Trusts PROUD values and all other Trust policies including standing financial instructions, research governance, clinical governance, patient and public involvement, codes of practices, and health and safety policies Support the Trusts R&D Operations Manager in the operational delivery and monitoring of externally sponsored studies Represent the Trust at meetings and promote the benefits of undertaking research Contribute to process improvement at C&WFT
