Due to continuing growth and development of Merlin’s attractions and brands on a global scale, we are looking for an **Infrastructure Operations Database Administrator **to join our Technology team on a permanent basis. The role can be based at multiple locations in the UK, including in Chertsey (Surrey), Basingstoke, Stoke-on-Trent, Blackpool or London, with hybrid-working available for those looking for more flexibility.

This is a technical, hands-on role with day-to-day tasks involving vigilant monitoring, comprehensive support, and meticulous configuration of Merlin’s global SQL Database infrastructure. This role will extend into working with the wider Infrastructure Operations team in the day-to-day support of Merlin’s extensive global server estate as workloads permit.

As a member of the wider Global Infrastructure Operations team, you will primarily be responsible for resolving operational issues, performing preventative maintenance, and reviewing performance-related statistics - whilst adhering to standardised Service Level Agreements (SLAs), in line with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.

Qualifications & Experience:
Essential
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.
- Experience scripting SQL backups and restores
- Experience with SQL Server high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, log shipping, and failover clustering.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of managing Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Experience and knowledge of installing and managing SQL Server with non-default settings
- Experience working within the ITIL framework including experience of change, knowledge and problem management.
- The ability to see the "end point" and know the steps required to get there.
- Awareness of ITIL processes, procedures, and methodology.
- Experience and understanding of Windows clustering technologies and techniques.
- Previous experience in the use of IT Help Desk tools, desirably Service Now.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services including O365.
- Understanding of virtualisation technologies, specifically with VMWare or Azure Stack HCI
- Expert understanding of the Microsoft Windows Server product family including Azure and 365
- Experience with Windows Server operating systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- PowerShell or other scripting knowledge
- Highly organised and able to manage own time and priorities in a fast paced delivery environment.

Desirable
- Leadership experience is desirable.
- Experience in working within a PCI environment.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server product family.
- Experience in designing and implementing solutions including relevant documentation to support the design.

- Travel is possible sometimes overseas, in line with business needs
- Flexibility around working hours will be expected, with a requirement to work weekends, bank holidays and evenings/early mornings as necessary
- An active involvement in the on-call rota is required
- Full driving licence and access to transport is required
