Foodbank Community Connector

East Ayrshire, United Kingdom CVO East Ayrshire Ltd Full time

The role requires that the post-holder provides infrastructure and strategical support to help Ayrshire East Foodbank to achieve its objectives of reducing the number of repeat referrals to the foodbank and to target the drivers of poverty and destitution which leads to foodbank usage.

Working in a client-facing role, the post-holder will provide 1:1 holistic support for beneficiaries of the foodbank who may have complex needs or be at a point of crisis, whether financial and/or poor mental health and wellbeing. The post-holder will identify tailored or specialised support which meets the needs of the individual, whilst able to negotiate and conduct warm referrals on behalf of service-users towards admission to community based or statutory services. The post-holder may represent service-users to navigate statutory benefits, housing, or employability support services on the clients’ behalf where possible.

The post-holder will be involved in liaising with CVO’s referral partners (both community and statutory) to link beneficiaries to appropriate support networks within the local area, whilst strengthening relationships with key stakeholders from our partners.

The post-holder will work alongside the volunteers of the foodbank centres during distribution hours, empowering our volunteers when faced with complex needs or circumstances, whilst sharing personal development and training opportunities.

The post-holder will be required to create case-reports to record the relevant data of the service-user and the issues which they are currently experiencing, the actions taken, and support identified to meet those needs.

The post-holder will utilise data from the foodbank database, local and national resources to target and prioritise “at-risk” areas.
