**Job Title: Brewery Assistant**

**Reporting To: Brewery Lead**

**Hours/Days: Mon - Fri ( 9am - 1pm minimum)**

**Microbz Overview**

Microbz is a privately owned company, founded in 2010 by Jeff and Sue Allen and is located at near Seend in Wiltshire.

Demand for the Bio-Live range of products (of which there are now 10) has grown significantly. We are in the process of gaining accreditation for GMP-food supplements, so this is an exciting time to join.

**Role Summary**

The primary responsibility of this role is to be involved with all activities associated with the preparation and manufacture of Microbz Ltd. Products, particularly the Bio Live range which is brewed and filtered entirely in-house.

Participation in the company quality process is key to this role, so accurate record keeping, following documented procedures, and adhering to food hygiene standards are all crucial. Full training will be given. The brewery assistant will spend most of their time working in the ‘Clean’ manufacturing environment. This means wearing appropriate PPE (provided hairnets, white coats, safety shoes) and following personal and hand hygiene guidelines at all times.

Due to the size of the company, there may be an occasional need to take part in bottling/production duties. The frequency of these tasks is estimated to be about twice per week as bottling production demands. As the company grows, and a dedicated team is developed, this requirement may decrease.

**Specific Responsibilities**
- Working, as required by the weekly production plan, with other team members to prepare mixes, brew and filter product.
- Preparation of brewing paperwork and scanning completed records onto the server.
- Ensuring all process equipment is clean and sterile.
- Following all relevant safety procedures and highlighting any areas of risk and/or in need of maintenance or improvement.
- Perform daily checks and keep records of brew temperatures.
- Administration of routine monthly product testing.
- Receive, itemise, and control incoming raw materials to optimise ingredient stock quantities.
- Check ingredients ordered by Purchasing to confirm receipt, confirm quality and feedback any non-conformances.
- Prepare mixes and brewing ingredients, ensuring full traceability through the batch number and BBE date system.
- Repackaging bulk ingredients into smaller batches.
- Participation in the internal Quality Management System.
- Where necessary, move fermenters and IBC’s around the brewery and maintain their cleanliness.

**Other Duties**
- Provide coverage for Bottling/production according to the demands of production.
- Involves being part of a small team operating a bottling production line. Full training will be provided.
- Perform Labelling of product(s) as required.
- Perform cleaning of the Brewery environment on a regular basis
- Perform cleaning duties around the gardening and cleaning product equipment.

**Experience/Background**
- Team player
- Experience of the production environment (ideally with food production or brewing experience).
- Must be fit and able to work in an energetic, fast paced environment while also maintaining hygiene and safety standards
- Capable of working on repetitive tasks while maintaining high, defined, standards
- Good standards of communication both verbal and written
- Legally permitted to work in the UK

**Desirable skills**

Some Knowledge or experience of the following areas would be an advantage.
- Working in an environment adhering to HACCP standards
- Working in an environment adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Good organisational skills
- Familiarity with writing and recording production information and working with defined electronic filing systems
- Full UK Driving Licence
