We are looking for an Optical Assistant who can work alongside a qualified dispensing optician in an independent practice. The role would include
- Welcoming clients and booking appointments
- reception tasks eg NHS electronic forms, Use of Optix software, accurate record keeping
- helping clients choose frames and discussing lens options
- helping clients learn how to use contact lenses
- Use of visual field screener, OCT and focimeter.
- Stock control of ancillary products and collating invoices for payment

The atmosphere is unrushed, and care and attention to detail are valued. The job is varied and you would be working with a team who enjoy their work. Previous experience as an OA would be ideal but not essential. Other relevant customer/patient service experience would be useful. The most important skills we are looking for are good IT, good written and phone communication, and a cheery personality. On the job training and courses will be provided for any of the above tasks which may not be familiar.

The days we require are full days on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with a half day to 12 noon on Saturday. All staff are part time so flexibility to help each other during holiday times is encouraged. The job is to start as soon as possible.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24-31 per week

**Salary**: £10.50-£11.50 per hour

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
