We are seeking to appoint a well-organised and motivated individual to join the team to help plan and deliver C1 driver training up to DVSA test standard for both staff and external customers. You will be directly accountable to the Driver Education Lead and you will be responsible for planning and delivering C1 training up to and including DVSA vocational test standard. You may also be involved from time to time in the assessment of both existing staff and potential employees.

You must also be a DVSA approved Driving Instructor.

As part of this role you will be expected to undertake further development to enable you to deliver full range of training up to and including “Blue light” response.

You must have well developed communication skills. Ability to manage own time, using initiative, prioritising workload and working to strict timescales. You will also work well within a team and be flexible.

An ability to gain and maintain respect and credibility with peers and stakeholders and to make confident decisions are also essential skills required of the post holders.

Assist the Driving Education Lead with the planning of driver training courses plan and deliver a number of driver training courses for ambulance personnel and be actively involved in their delivery.

Advise, assist and support the DEL in matters relating to the procurement and deployment of driver training resources (vehicles and equipment).

To have a good understanding of the national initiatives relating to driver training which impact on ambulance services.

Work closely with divisional education leads to assess annually the training and development needs (driving) of all staff in the trust

Provide feedback, make recommendations in accordance with the accident management procedure and road risk arrangements.

To be actively involved in coordinating where appropriate, driving assessments of potential and new recruits, to ensure compliance with the driving policy

Assist the DEL in ensuring that accurate and detailed records of all driver training matters are compiled and stored in the appropriate way

Assist & provided the Driver Training Centre Manager with accurate data for input into the DVLA and other government agencies databases.

To attend as required any external training courses that are required to enable qualification as an ambulance service Driver trainer.

To assist the Accident & Investigations Officer to ensure that traffic accidents are managed and investigated in accordance with the Trust’s driving policy investigating and/or advising others appropriately.

We have a specialised branch of the Trust called HART which deal with explosions or terrorist attacks.
