RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership with a Government Department in Darlington who are seeking to recruit a Policy Adviser, US Financial Services.
Are you interested in playing an important role in a key government Department, working on shaping the UK's future international financial services strategy? They are seeking a highly motivated individual to join their Trade and Emerging Markets Team.
The Trade & Emerging Markets team leads engagement on financial services with many non-EU countries and promotes the UK as an international financial centre. This role is in the Trade Unit.
The UK is one of the largest financial services exporters in the world. This unit is responsible for the bilateral financial services relationship with advanced economies including United States. They also are responsible for financial services aspects of tradenegotiations with non-EU trading partners, working closely with the Department for International Trade (DIT).
This is a stretching role at the heart of the government’s international agenda. It provides excellent opportunities for development, and engagement with officials from across Whitehall, the regulators and international partners. It also provides the opportunityto develop expertise relating to a dynamic sector of the UK economy.
**Role Accountabilities**:

- Work with sector leads in the Financial Services Group, the Bank of England / Prudential Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority to develop strategy and policy positions on bilateral UK-US financial services issues.
- Responsible for preparation and running of the biannual UK-US Financial Regulatory Working Group (FRWG).
- Build relations with and engage with US counterparts on the financial services agenda.
- Brief ministers on engagement with US administration and industry on UK-US financial services issues.
- Contribute to development of wider international financial services strategy.
