As we continue on this journey, we are on the lookout for a talented individual to join our team as a Marine Operative.

This is a full time, permanent position and will require full flexibility to cover days, nights and weekends with the main purpose of undertaking mooring and other marine related duties.

**Accountabilities**
- To work safely to ABP procedures and systems of work including Beyond Zero behaviours.
- Tending mooring ropes during lock transits and during berthing/sailing of vessels both in dock and in a tideway.
- Use of lock head machinery to operate lock gates and sluices.
- Supplying vessels with fresh water.
- Reporting of faults and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Handling a mooring boat in dock and in tidal waters, including associated checks.
- Assisting in emergency operations under supervision.
- Removal of debris and flotsam from dock waters.
- Driving company vehicles.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties, such as weeding and painting.

**Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies**

**Essential**
- Able to work to agreed Safe Systems of Work, present government legislation and ABP policies and codes.
- Willing to be flexible to assist with rapidly changing work requirements.
- Willing to undertake a reasonable amount of overtime.
- Able to work as part of a close team.
- Must reside within a reasonable travelling time of Grimsby & Immingham. Including a full UK drivers licence, so as to drive company vehicles.
- Must be willing to undertake shift work and be a good time keeper.
- Be physical fit to deal with the demanding manual duties of this role.
- Willing to work in poor weather condition to provide marine operations facilities to the ports customers.
- Must be committed and have a pro-active attitude to Health and Safety and to the dock and river environment.

**Desirable**
- Good overall education and able to demonstrate reasonable literacy and numeracy skills.
- Safety qualification such as IOSH or CHIPS.
- First aid qualification.
- A knowledge of port operations and the marine industry.
- Knowledge of Lock operations.
- Knowledge of handling small marine craft.
- Knowledge of typical mooring arrangements of commercial shipping.
- Knowledge of marine terminology.
- Clean driving licence.
- Knowledge of the proper use VHF radios.
- Able to assist in dealing with emergency situations.
- Port Operations and the marine industry.

**Salary**: £24,000.00-£27,500.00 per year
