Advanced Paramedic Emergency Care
The Advanced Paramedic (Emergency Care) is a key role in the professional leadership structure, providing clinical leadership, clinical supervision and governance oversight to Clinical Team Leaders (CTLs) and clinicians in the context of emergency care. The role will also contribute to the wider clinical workforce development, ensuring that emergency care is delivered safely and effectively in line with the Trust’s clinical strategy.
Utilising the advanced skills and knowledge required of an advanced practitioner, the Advanced Paramedic (Emergency Care) will deliver an advanced scope of practice through patient assessment, diagnostics, clinical decision making and interventions of the most complex and challenging patients.
The post holder will be the leading emergency care clinician embedded within a division, responsible for ensuring that patients receive safe and effective care through clinical leadership, clinical development and supervision in practice. Analysis of local key performance indicators, formulation of clinical development and risk mitigation plans, and supporting clinicians to remain proficient through education and development activities are fundamental elements of the role.
The role of the Advanced Paramedic is aligned to national frameworks in advanced clinical practice. Focusing around the 4 pillars of advanced practice, they will undertake expert clinical practice, clinical leadership, research & audit, and education. This will enable the Advanced Paramedic to develop professional practice that contributes to improved standards of care. To maintain advanced clinical competence, the Advanced Paramedic will be required to rotate through the Urgent & Emergency care system, and the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
We employ 3,500 staff in 63 locations and serve a population of 2,600,000 in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham, and Tees over 3230 square miles.
Many people think the job of the ambulance service is to collect patients and take them to hospital, but we do much more
Paramedic skills have developed hugely in recent years, meaning we carry out more treatment at the scene and en-route to hospital.
We have a dedicated clinical assessment service that allows us to provide patients with the most appropriate care from the beginning of the patient journey.
We have a specialised branch of the Trust called HART which deal with explosions or terrorist attacks.
Ultimately patients are the heart of everything that we do to support our mission of "safe, effective and responsive care for all".
Please see attached job description for the full list of duties and responsibilities for this role.
