Due to retirement we are able to offer this fantastic opportunity to work for an established charity providing a high standard of support that really makes a difference to the lives of young women and children in Sheffield. Peile House is our hostel which is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Having experience of working with vulnerable young women, preferably in a residential setting (although not essential), you will be familiar with the challenges faced by the young people that we work with. You will have the skills and confidence to lone work at night, along with the empathy and professionalism to support our clients having a “can do” attitude and the ability to thrive in a high challenge environment. You will also have the enthusiasm to support our charity shop and other fundraising activities. You will join an amazing group of people who will support you to achieve the aims of the organisation and your own personal development goals.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Support the empowerment of clients with a range of needs towards independent living.

2. Lone work at night, ensuring that clients receive a level of support that is appropriate and
professional. (You are permitted to sleep during the hours of 12 midnight to 8am if
circumstances allow, however there is a clear expectation that you will respond fully
should you be required to do so in order to assist a young person or attend to any other
situation that might arise throughout the duration of the 11-hour shift).

3. Follow YWCA Yorkshire safeguarding procedures and work closely with colleagues
and other agencies to meet safeguarding requirements for vulnerable adults and
children.

4. Promote, plan and host service user involvement activities and consultations.

5. Adhere to health and safety procedures.

6. Responsibility for the accurate and consistent recording of information on our Customer
Records Management System (CRMS) within data protection guidelines.

7. Adhere to Health & Safety procedures.

8. Take responsibility for the building at night.

9. Contribute to the organisation’s fundraising strategy and raise funds to support the
charity in a planned way as designated by the Project Manager.

**Requirements**:
**Relevant experience/education (all essential)**:

- A good standard of education with at least level 2 or equivalent in English & Maths.
- Previous, recent relevant experience.

**Skills knowledge and ability (all essential)**:

- A desire to work with vulnerable client groups.
- An understanding of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
- Knowledge of support planning and risk assessment.
- An understanding of the role of statutory services and multi-agency working.
- The ability to respond to crisis and act appropriately
- Good time and self-managing skills
- Good organisational, computer and written skills.
- Commitment to equal opportunities and a non-judgmental approach.
