The Learning Mentor at Flexible Learning School plays a crucial role in supporting pupils in an alternative provision setting. The role involves supervising pupils, ensuring lessons start on time, monitoring pupil attendance, and enforcing school rules. The Learning Mentor works closely with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to foster a supportive and structured learning environment that caters to the unique needs of each student.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Pupil Supervision**:

- Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, and other school activities.
- Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a safe learning environment.

**2. Lesson Coordination**:

- Ensure lessons start on time by coordinating with teachers and pupils.
- Assist in setting up classrooms and preparing materials as needed.
- Ensure teachers are enforcing school rules and policies consistently and fairly.

**3. Attendance Monitoring**:

- Track and record pupil attendance daily.
- Follow up on absences and lateness with pupils and parents, addressing any underlying issues.

**4. Behavioural Support**:

- Enforce school rules and policies consistently and fairly.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to support positive pupil behaviour.

**5. Mentoring and Guidance**:

- Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions to support pupils’ academic and personal development.
- Help pupils set and achieve personal and academic goals.

**6. Communication**:

- Maintain open and effective communication with pupils, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings and provide feedback on pupil progress and behaviour.

**7. Support Services**:

- Identify pupils who require additional support and refer them to appropriate services.
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to support pupil welfare and development.

**8. Administrative Duties**:

- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, attendance, and behaviour.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by the school administration.
- Attend pupil suspension and placement closure meetings.

**Qualifications**:
Education: Minimum of a GCSEs or equivalent; additional qualifications in education, child development, or related fields are advantageous.

Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or mentoring capacity. Experience in alternative provision settings is preferred.

**Skills**:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage behaviour and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

**Additional Information**:

- Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 4.30 pm (Term-Time only)
