Position: Qualified Social Worker - Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEA) Team

Introduction:
Join us for an exciting and unique opportunity to become a part of the Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEA) Team in Birmingham City. We are seeking a creative and motivated Qualified Social Worker who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable individuals within the SEA sector. The SEA Team plays a crucial role in ensuring quality support provision and safeguarding within exempt accommodation settings.

About Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEA):
Supported Exempt Accommodation refers to housing provided by entities such as Non-Metropolitan County Councils, charities, voluntary organizations, or housing associations. This type of accommodation is designated for individuals requiring and receiving _care, support & supervision_. Providers of SEA must claim enhanced Housing Benefit payments and obtain Supported Exempt Status. Notably, support provision within the SEA sector is largely unregulated and falls outside the jurisdiction of local authorities (LA) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Role Overview:
As a Qualified Social Worker within the SEA Team, you will be responsible for conducting property and support inspections within the SEA sector. Your primary duties will involve responding to complaints or concerns regarding inadequate support and adult safeguarding enquiries. The role requires extensive experience in working with individuals facing multiple disadvantages, including homelessness, domestic violence, asylum seekers, involvement with the Prison service, substance misuse, and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
Conducting property and support inspections within the SEA sector.

Responding to complaints and concerns regarding inadequate support.

Handling adult safeguarding enquiries effectively and efficiently.

Collaborating with multi-agency partnership groups to ensure comprehensive support provision.

Providing support and guidance to individuals with complex needs.

Advocating for the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals within the SEA sector.

**Requirements**:
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) status with relevant professional registration.

Extensive experience in working with individuals facing multiple disadvantages, including homelessness, domestic violence, asylum seekers, involvement with the Prison service, substance misuse, and mental health challenges.

Strong understanding of adult safeguarding procedures and legislation.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency partnership framework.

Demonstrated ability to think creatively and problem-solve in challenging situations.

Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of vulnerable individuals.
