**CLEANER/CARETAKER - YSGOL LLANBEDR**

**Caretaker Grade 2 & Cleaner Grade 1**

**Salary: Grade 1 £10.60 - Grade 2 £10.79**

**Hours per week: 5hrs Caretaking & 12.30hrs Cleaning.**

**39 weeks. Term Time plus 20 days holiday period deep cleaning (43 weeks total).**

**Monday to Friday 07.00 - 07.5hrs and 15.30-18.15hrs.**

**Job Purpose**

To provide a clean environment for employees and visitors in Denbighshire County Council buildings with additional responsibility for the security of the premises and its contents, lighting and heating, appropriate maintenance work, storing of materials, under the direction of an Environmental Services Supervisor/Manager

**Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities**
- Carry out all work to the recognised satisfactory standard. All areas will be cleaned as per frequency required.
- To carry out cleaning tasks in accordance with site specifications and frequencies.
- Ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times in particular those relating to the use of machinery and chemical substances.
- Report defective equipment immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain storage lockers and cupboards in a clean and tidy condition.
- Undertake security procedures for the building and grounds, including the routine and non routine opening and closing of the building.
- Operate the heating plant in accordance with issued instructions endeavouring to ensure that required temperatures are maintained. Replace light fittings as necessary and report any defects in either lighting or heating system immediately.
- Inform the site Manager of any repair/maintenance work required.
- Liaise with contractors and maintain relevant records.
- To report meter readings for supplied energy monthly and on the agreed day.
- Ensure adequate supplies cleaning materials are available. Take delivery of stores, materials and other goods and arrange their safe storage.
- Provide access to building if required in the event of emergencies.
- Layout chairs, tables etc. as appropriate for groups using rooms within the establishment.
- Carry out additional periodic tasks, as appropriate, at site Managers request and with Environmental Services Manager agreement.
- Complete signing in / signing out register each day

**Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience**
- Some knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
- Ability to work both as a team and unsupervised.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques
- Knowledge of routine maintenance work
- Good interpersonal skills

**Special Working Conditions**

Moderate Exposure to cleaning chemicals (controlled under COSHH regulations).

**Employment Checks/ Specific Requirements**

The post does require a DBS.

**Vision/Context**

To ensure an efficient building caretaking and cleaning service is provided at site.
