**Purpose of the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for HRRC Supervisor at Bristol Waste Company. The purpose of this role is to direct and control the daily operation of the Household Waste Recycling Centre to ensure wastes are received, processed and disposed of efficiently, economically, safely and free from environmental hazard and that recycling targets are met.
To help BWC obtain the highest level of material separation possible with a view to being landfill free.
To ensure the facilities are available to meet the daily demands of the service and that operations are carried out to required safety and environmental standards and to manage and develop a team of HRRC and Transfer station staff.
**Key responsibilities**:
- To ensure all necessary resources in the form of staff, plant and vehicles are available on site and correctly employed so that the daily intake of wastes at the HRRC are processed and forwarded through the designated disposal routes properly, safely and efficiently such that service provision is maintained and production targets achieved.
- To ensure that all site licences, permits, legislation and regulations are always followed, with a high attention to detail.
- To provide advice, guidance, support, direction, priorities, instruction, control, motivation, work allocation and training to all site staff including temporary and agency staff and contractors.
- Through the implementation of the Bristol Waste Company’s personnel policies to develop and maintain good working relations on site, ensure appropriate safe working procedures are introduced and properly enforced, that staff welfare facilities are properly maintained, that risk assessments are carried out and regularly reviewed so that safe working conditions are maintained for all employees, contractors, and customers.
- To implement, maintain and monitor systems for the recording of operational performance data including all waste movements, site based budget expenditure, timesheets, staff overtime returns, accident reports, stores holding, cash handling / banking, sickness records, training records, health and safety inspections, waste recycling performance, daily site inspections, plant maintenance / vehicle servicing records and participate in the development of additional systems to meet changing operational needs particularly in the areas of Health and Safety, the site licence and customer care.
- To ensure that all site based fixed / mobile plant and equipment, vehicles, buildings, roadways, drainage systems, services are properly used, regularly serviced, repaired and maintained in accordance with approved schedules and as required.
- To monitor operational performance, identify, develop and implement solutions to operational problems and deficiencies with a view to improving service provision and to provide effective advice and comment to the Manager Waste Disposal Operations.

Requirements For the Role
- Experience of operating a Household Waste Recycling Centre or waste site.
- Experience which demonstrates the ability to effectively supervise, provide guidance, instruction, support and motivation to an operational team.
- Demonstrable understanding of health and safety and other associated relevant legislation.
- Experience of dealing with a wide range of colleagues and customers and use of appropriate communication skills in responding to and resolving operational issues.
- Demonstrable IT skills and experience which demonstrates the ability to undertake general administration duties.
- Demonstrable experience of working within a pressurised environment.
- Understanding of environmental site licences and permits
- Current driving licence.
- Good understanding of waste streams and their segregation.
- Must have experience of working closely with hauliers to ensure good and timely material turnover and keeping stocks as low as possible.
