About the role
Cambridgeshire County Council Targeted Support Service provides support to children, young people, and their families. Each district team consists of Family Workers, Child and Family Centre Workers, Family Hubs Key Workers, Young People Workers, Senior Transitions Advisors, Transitions Advisors, Client Researchers and managers.

The role of Child and Family Centres is to improve outcomes for all children, from pre-birth to age 19, and to reduce inequalities in outcomes between children growing up in disadvantage and the wider population. Child and Family Centres provide a focus for multi-agency teams to deliver integrated services to young children and their families.

What will you be doing?
With a particular focus on the 0-2 age group, Family Hubs Key Workers support families in the ante and post natal stages, providing access to information, advice and guidance, play, support and learning opportunities in both targeted and universal group settings. Support will be delivered in both Child and Family Centres and outreach venues within the wider community.

The role is full time 37 hours and fixed term for 18 months. The role will be based at Soham Child and Family Centre CB7 5BH but cover all of East Cambridgeshire.

Skills and experience:

- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.
- Understanding of child protection policies and procedures and the importance of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Direct experience of working with children aged 0-5 years and their families.
- Practical knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable families and being aware of the issues a practitioner may face while working with vulnerable families.
- Experience of facilitating group sessions for parents.
- Experience of providing information, advice and signposting services to families.
- Experience of engaging parents in community activities.
- Ability to carry out routine administration, for example attendance records and evaluations.
- Competent in the use of IT software including Word, Excel, social media and data reporting systems.
- Willingness to travel locally and across the county.
- Able to work flexibly to support the delivery of the Child and Family Centre offer, including some evening and weekend working as required.
- Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and how this applies to this role.
