**Binnies** an **RSK group** company is recruiting for an** EIA Consultant **for our RTS project.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, enthusiastic and skilled Binnies team at a key point in the design development and environmental assessment of a multi-faceted flood defence scheme, the River Thames Scheme (RTS), which aspires for multiple environmental and social benefits. The RTS is the largest inland flood defence scheme in the England, requiring 8km of new flood relief channels and design of a large number of habitat creation areas in order to provide Biodiversity Net Gain.

We are seeking a highly skilled and organised EIA professional to help write and coordinate the environmental assessment of this major flood defence project, which is being progressed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.

**The role requires**:

- coordination of a large teams of internal and subconsultant environmental specialists to deliver the Preliminary Environmental Information Report and Environmental Statement
- excellent communication skills. Extensive liaison will be required with the Binnies project management team (including support on programming, cost estimates and identification of project risks) as well as engagement with the client’s environmental assurance personnel
- providing supervisor and mentor role to members of the environmental team.

The role is suitable for full or part time (min 3 days per week) working and will continue for 2-3 years.

After the RTS role has finished, there will be opportunity to continue working on a range of large infrastructure projects including flood, coastal and maritime projects, ports, water utilities, transport and renewable power.

You will be joining our close national team of environmental professionals. Our environmental professionals are empowered to work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams and shape projects to deliver smarter and more sustainable solutions. **Essential Requirements**

The role is suitable for an experienced environmental professional with full professional membership (such as IEMA, IES or CIWEM) or close to achieving. You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:

- An environmental related degree
- Chartered (or close to applying) with a relevant institute and/or be a Registered EIA Practitioner with IEMA
- A sound understanding of EIA and sustainability
- A thorough understanding of consenting processes (planning, HRA, WFD etc)
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- A working knowledge of the Development Consent Order process would be preferred, along with a good understanding of assessments that will be progressed alongside the EIA - such as natural capital assessment, environmental consenting and carbon management
- Previous experience of working in a consultancy environment is desirable but not essential
