Logistics Operative
The role of the Logistics Operative is to ensure safe and effective movements of goods to support the needs of the Trust.
Products will need to be delivered and collected in a timely fashion in accordance with a daily schedule. Good are to be handled in a safe and efficient method to preserve quality and support safe collection and delivery.
Products will be delivered to the Trust’s hospital sites from a number of suppliers and delivery agents, including NHS Supply Chain. The main duties of the Logistics Operative will include:
Ensuring all products are checked and signed for.
Loading, moving and collecting cages (both full and empty) on a daily basis.
Checking the quality of items and rejecting items that are substandard.
Collection and removal of waste streams from designated waste points across the sites
To complete a full Trust-led training programme to ensure all products and waste can be moved, handled, stored and disposed of safely and effectively.
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBT) is an integrated care organisation with a budget of approximately £600 million and over 7,000 staff. Diversity and social care is at the core of what we do as the Trust provides Community and Acute Services to over half a million people in an urban centre that demands massive regeneration and has substantial premature mortality.
**We have three newly emerging strategic objectives**:
Our People - to cultivate and sustain happy, productive and engaged staff
Our Patients - to be good or outstanding in everything we do
Our Population - to work seamlessly with our partners to improve live
The Logistics Operative post is a role that will ensure the safe and efficient movement of various materials and waste throughout the Trust. The Logistics Team is being established to ensure that no team works in isolation, and the Logistics Operative, therefore, may be required to move goods/products, linen, waste, post, sterile equipment and other non-patient-facing materials on a daily basis, working to a defined schedule.
