The position offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious and self-motivated individual to contribute to a project to improve access to one of the world’s foremost Chinese rare book and manuscript collections.

The postholder will create high quality catalogue records for the Bodleian Library’s Chinese manuscript and art collections. The incumbent will provide research and clerical assistance to the Head of East Asia Section in the publication of a monograph volume and contribute towards the creation of an online exhibition and a discovery portal for the Chinese manuscript collection. Reporting to the Head of East Asia Section, the postholder will work closely with the Bodleian Public Engagement Team to widen access to the collection by community groups and assist the Bodleian Imaging Services, Bodleian Publishing and Digital Bodleian Teams to provide digital access to the collection and production of research publications.

The postholder provides project support and clerical assistance to the Head of East Asia Section with current projects and planning and preparation of future improvement plans. They work closely with the curatorial staff of the Asian and Middle Eastern Collections.

The is a full time, fixed-term post for 12 months.
