Job Title:Traffic Planner

Department: Transport Logistics Immingham, North East Lincolnshire

Job Purpose

To be responsible for the effective daily running of our clients Logistics fleet operations. Ensuring that the traffic plan is executed in the most efficient manner possible within both company financial targets & legislative requirements.

Accountabilities:

- Responsible for understanding and achieving daily, weekly and periodic operational, customer and financial targets.
- Execute the planned activities to ensure that all deliveries and collections are completed as required.
- Undertake proactive changes to the traffic plan in response to operational issues and changes.
- Utilise and interpret the Transport Management System to maximise route planning efficiencies within given time constraints & service criteria.
- Work in partnership with the other Transport Planners, in order to plan effectively and resolve issues which adversely affect efficiencies.
- To meet customer service levels and quality standards whist maintaining a good working relationship.
- Ensure effective internal communication at all times and engage with the Transport Planners regarding issues arising at all times.
- Provide daily revenue figures to the accounts function.
- Ensure all jobs are entered onto the planning system in a timely manner allowing daily closure and invoicing.
- Manage the workforce holiday planning in conjunction with the planners.
- Manage the traffic daily staffing and Saturday rota to ensure the office is fully manned to meet the needs of the business.
- Liaise with the Compliance Manager to ensure all maintenance is completed in a timely manner, inclusive of servicing, MOTs and daily defect reporting.
- Liaise with the Compliance Manager and Group Operations Manager to ensure that the accident recording procedure is followed.
- In conjunction with the Compliance Manager ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed to promote a safe working environment.
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the senior management team from time to time.

Key Knowledge / Experience
- Good working knowledge of the Geography of the UK
- Experience in load planning HGV vehicles.
- Experience of working in a cost-sensitive environment
- Experience of liaising with third party contractors
- Successful track record of dealing with customers directly both internal and external
- Experience of managing an busy transport desk
- Product knowledge

Role Dimensions
- Reports directly to the Group Transport Manager

**Benefits**:
£30,000 to £35,000 DOE
