Optical Assistant Apprentice

We are a lovely team at your local Specsavers in Middlesbrough. We are looking for two enthusiastic, honest, organised, friendly Optical Assistant Apprentices to join our team. We will support your apprenticeship journey alongside your weekly online learning sessions to help you achieve your L2 OPtical Assistant qualification.

We are a welcoming Optometry practice that believes in looking after people, and their eyes, by making sure we offer the best advice, quality products and excellent service. In short we treat our clients as we would like to be treated. Our practice is smart and modern, and consists of a team of optometrists, dispensing optician and optical assistants which have all worked for the practice for a number of years.

**Your job will include the following tasks**
- Making appointments,
- Meeting and greeting patients
- Filing/Scanning
- Spectacle repairs
- Guiding patients to choose the right frames for them
- Discussing lens options with patients
- Discussing and teaching how to use contact lenses
- Ancillary testing eg visual field testing, retinal photography
- Ordering spectacles and checking completed jobs.

**Desired skills**

The following will be required:

- min 30 hrs a week
- Good Computer skills and happy using MS Teams, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Word, Excel etc.
- Excellent people skills
- Desire to learn whilst working with us
- GCSE Maths & English min Grade c/Level 4

**Job Types**: Full-time, Apprenticeship

**Salary**: From £5.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Coulby Newham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
