Steel Erector

The Best Connection are looking for a Steel Erector/Supervisor for a client in Chorley, to assist with an ongoing refurbishment project.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review and look into technical plans prepared by architects and engineers for each project.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to plan the assembly process, ensuring alignment with project schedules and specifications.
- Ensure the availability of necessary equipment, tools, and materials for the steel erection team.
- Supervise and guide steel erectors in cutting, shaping, and preparing steel components according to project requirements.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools used in steel erection tasks.
- Manage the installation and assembly of steel girders, pipework, and beam sections to construct a solid steel framework.
- Coordinate the safe and proficient use of elevated work platforms, scissor lifts, and other specialised equipment.
- Monitor the precise laying of metal decking and the proper fixing of safety netting and edge rails.
- Provide guidance and support to the team in lifting and positioning components using tower cranes.
- Ensure accurate alignment and levelling of steel work before final bolting and securing in place.
- Supervise the steel erectors' on-site activities, emphasising adherence to safety protocols and regulations, especially when working at heights.
- Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality and precision of steel erection work, intervening as needed to maintain standards.
- Address any challenges or issues that arise during the steel erection process, offering solutions and support to the team.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to provide progress updates and address concerns.
- Collaborate with safety personnel to implement and reinforce safety measures to protect the steel erector team and other workers on-site.
- Keep detailed records of work completed, materials used, and any incidents or adjustments made during the erection process.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the steel erector team, encouraging professional growth and skill development.
- Stay informed about industry advancements, new techniques, and regulations related to steel erection, and share relevant information with the team.

**Shifts**:

- Monday to Friday
- (08.00-17.00, but could potentially change)

**Prefered requirements**:

- Level 2 NVQ in Steelf-fixing (preferred)
- Management/Team Leader/Supervisor experience
- SSSTS ticket

**Benefits & Requirements**:

- Hourly rate as above (not age dependent)
- 28 days Paid Annual Leave pro-rata for PAYE (inclusive of statutory holiday)
