**Role:Cycle Courier**

**Department: Place & Infrastructure**

Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Cycle Courier on behalf of Luton Borough council within their Place and Infrastructure department.

**Purpose of position**:
Support local businesses trialling the council's e-cargo bikes by acting as a delivery rider on the business's behalf. Supporting the promotion of the e-cargo bike scheme.

**Principal Responsibilities**:

- Be directly responsible to the Cycle Promotions Officer, project manager for the Councils e-cargo bike scheme.
- Represent the council through best cycling practice and adherence to the highway code.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inform and promote the use of e-cargo bikes.
- Work with the identified local business partners in carrying out a parcel delivery service. Work with the business to optimise routes for e-cargo bikes.
- Assist in events and activities to promote the e-cargo bike scheme, working with both businesses and the wider public.
- Support the Cycle Promotions Officer in collecting and recording monitoring information.
- Other duties to support the Cycle Promotions Officer.

**Skills and Experiences**:

- Experienced cyclist, familiar with riding in a variety of traffic conditions.
- Able to ride a bicycle to national standards level 3.
- Able to contribute to and work effectively as a member of a team.
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inform and influence and motivate the target audience.
- Able to keep accurate records.
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
- Able to ride an e-cargo bike to various locations around Luton and occasionally in to neighbouring towns.
- Able to work weekdays and some evenings and weekends.
