**Manchester Psychological Therapy Service**: South is IAPT reporting service for people experiencing common mental health disorders. We consist of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Counsellors, Mental Health Practitioners and Psychologists and work in partnership with Self Help (Services) and other Step 2 providers.

We are seeking to recruit a number of enthusiastic and flexible CBT therapists. We currently have a number of posts both Substantive and Fixed Term Contracts within our team.

We want to recruit people to the service who share the values embedded within the NHS constitution and are confident in their ability to contribute to the demonstrated effectiveness and acceptability of our service.

The post holders will be primarily responsible for providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to working age clients with ‘common’ mental health needs in primary healthcare settings in Manchester.

The postholder will be part of a large multi-disciplinary Primary Care Psychological Service and, as such, will work within its co-ordinated framework.

The postholder will work within the procedures, protocols and guidelines for the Service.

The postholder will plan and organise their work schedule and tasks, having managerial and clinical supervision as the role demands.

The service is committed to improving access for clients and offering flexible working hrs for staff. Evening working may be an option.

The successful applicants will join an experienced group of CBT therapist and benefit from close support from the teams Clinical Lead and management team. There are excellent opportunities for shared learning and continuing professional development.

Clinical

To be responsible for appropriate assessment of clients, to use judgement in the planning of care, and to implement specific evidence-based therapy programmes.

To communicate directly with patients, carers/relatives and other healthcare professionals complex and potentially emotive information regarding the patient’s condition, treatment and prognosis.

To undertake specific validated psychometric testing of patients.

To liaise with colleagues in the Manchester Primary Care Psychological Therapy Service, the Primary Healthcare Team, Secondary Mental Health Services, and other statutory and non-statutory services, to ensure the delivery of high quality mental healthcare to patients.

To add to patient’s clinical notes and electronic patient information system, and to provide written reports of assessment data and clinical intervention as required, in accordance with team standards.

Clinical services will be provided within a number of GP surgeries and Health Centres across Manchester.

The postholder will be required to undertake training in aggression management techniques, in addition to Fire and other Trust mandatory training.

To participate in regular appraisal with the Service Manager, including the operation of a Personal Development Plan.

To undertake such CPD activities as are required to maintain and enhance clinical skills necessary for the delivery of high quality CBT services.

To undertake regular clinical supervision with a senior staff member.

Policy and Service Development

To provide comment to the Service Manager on proposed and existing service developments and procedures, directly and through team meetings.

To follow professional guidelines and standards, Trust policies, and team procedures, protocols and guidance in completion of work tasks.

Research and Development

To contribute when required to team Research and Development activities.

To contribute to the team’s clinical and service standards audit programme, including provision of data for the team’s routine outcomes evaluation programme
