Ambient People is working with an innovative local authority to recruit an interim Finance Consultant who will support a review of their commercial subsidiary and associate companies and partnerships. This is a high profile role within the organisation andkey to ensuring their long term successful council plan.

The council’s current commercial approach to income generation includes a varied portfolio that needs to be reviewed to ensure that future opportunities are maximised, with risk kept to a minimum. Therefore the key aspects of the role include but are notlimited to;
- Undertaking financial modelling and analysis of business plans with the council’s commercial ventures to advise sound financial choices
- Support the provision of a complete service, including strategic financial advice, to the council’s commercial operations
- Taking a lead in the control and accounting for the council’s investments in companies and ventures
- Ensuring the implementation of improvements as identified by the council’s Finance Improvement Programme

This Finance Consultant will have plenty of contract and client management experience, along with strong communication skills to ensure positive and productive relationships with stakeholders, both internally and with partnering organisations. You will alsobe effective in leading negotiations and influencing outcomes, with senior level experience from a local government or public sector organisation. You will have a demonstrable track record of providing strategic and technical financial advice to senior managementand Elected Members (or equivalent in another public sector setting).
